Safari bookings involve advance reservations with third-party suppliers, including lodges, transport providers, and conservation authorities. As a result:
- Many services are secured on a prepaid and non-refundable basis
- Cancellation terms are influenced by supplier-specific policies
- Refunds are subject to recovery of funds from these suppliers
This policy reflects standard industry practice and ensures transparency in how cancellations and refunds are handled.
3. Cancellation by the Traveler
All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email.
The effective date of cancellation is the date on which the written notice is received and acknowledged by the Company.
3.1 Standard Cancellation Charges
The following charges apply unless otherwise specified in your booking confirmation:
- More than 30 days before travel:
Cancellation fee equivalent to the deposit paid (non-refundable) - 15 to 30 days before travel:
Up to 50% of the total booking cost is non-refundable - Less than 15 days before travel:
Up to 100% of the total booking cost is non-refundable
3.2 Peak Season and Luxury Bookings
Certain bookings—particularly:
- Peak travel seasons
- Luxury lodges and exclusive-use properties
may be subject to stricter cancellation terms, including:
- Higher non-refundable deposits
- Full prepayment requirements
- Extended non-refundable periods
In such cases, the specific terms provided at the time of booking shall apply.
4. Non-Refundable Services
The following services are typically non-refundable once confirmed:
- Accommodation bookings with strict supplier policies
- Park and conservation fees
- Flights (domestic and international)

Rescheduling may be offered as an alternative to cancellation but is not guaranteed.
7. No-Show Policy
Failure to arrive or utilize booked services without prior notice (“no-show”) will result in:
- 100% forfeiture of the total booking cost
- No refunds or credits issued
8. Cancellation or Changes by the Company
Sandy Shores Africa Safaris reserves the right to cancel or modify bookings due to:
- Operational requirements
- Safety concerns
- Insufficient participation
- Force majeure events
In such cases, the Company will offer:
- An alternative itinerary of comparable value, or
- A travel credit, or
- A partial or full refund, subject to supplier recoveries
9. Force Majeure
No refunds shall be guaranteed for cancellations arising from events beyond the Company’s control, including but not limited to:
- Natural disasters
- Political instability
- Government restrictions
- Pandemics or health emergencies
In such cases, the Company will make reasonable efforts to:
- Recover funds from suppliers
- Offer alternative arrangements or travel credits
10. Early Termination of Travel
If a Traveler chooses to:
- End the safari early
- Skip any part of the itinerary
No refunds will be issued for unused services.
11. Travel Insurance Requirement
Travelers are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering:
- Trip cancellations
- Medical emergencies
- Evacuation
- Travel disruptions
The Company shall not be responsible for losses that could have been covered under insurance.
12. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute without first engaging the Company may result in:
- Suspension of services
- Additional administrative charges
- Legal recovery actions where applicable
